Analyze and improve your visibility on Google
Who this is for: you've connected a Google Business Profile and you want to know where you show up on Google Maps versus your local competitors, identify what's holding you back, and fix your listing to climb.
What you'll see: the Local Visibility Diagnostic page (25-point grid, top competitors, market recommendations) and the Optimize my Google listing page (AI score + direct fix suggestions you can apply to your listing).
Overview
GMB Club gives you two complementary tools:
| Tool | The question it answers | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Local Visibility Diagnostic | "Where do I show up on Google Maps when a customer types restaurant in my neighborhood?" | /dashboard/visibilite |
| Optimize my Google listing | "What's missing on my listing to make it into the Top 3?" | /dashboard/optimiser |
One shows where you stand, the other tells you what to do to improve. Use them in that order.
Part 1 — Local Visibility Diagnostic
Launch your first analysis
From the Dashboard → "Local Visibility" card (orange pin icon), or via the navigation Google Business › Visibility.

When you land, you see:
- Title "Local Visibility Diagnostic"
- Yellow educational banner: Enter a business keyword (e.g. 'plumber', 'Italian restaurant') to see where you show up / Green = Top 3, Orange = Top 10, Red = Not visible on Google Maps / Test different keywords and track your progress after each optimization
- Bubble info card with your address + "Edit" button to adjust the analysis point if needed
- Analysis counter in the top right (e.g.
0 / 3)
Analysis quota: 3 analyses per bubble per week. Anti-abuse cap (each analysis consumes one request). Resets every Monday.
"Launch an analysis" form
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Search keyword | The term a potential customer would type. E.g.: restaurant, pizzeria, hairdresser, auto garage. Think about what your end customer searches, not your job title. |
| Analysis perimeter | 3 choices: Neighborhood - 5 km, City - 20 km (default), Metropolitan - 50 km. The perimeter determines the area analyzed. |
| Location | By default, your GMB listing's address. You can edit it (useful for testing another neighborhood). "Reset (GMB)" link to revert to the listing's address. |
Click "Analyze visibility" (full-width orange button).
A progress bar appears with 2 steps:
- "Grid analysis" — GMB Club queries Google Maps from 25 different geographic points in the perimeter
- "Computing visibility score" — aggregating the results
Count 30-60 seconds depending on the area.
Reading the results

Once the analysis is done, you see:
1. The visibility map (Google Maps + 25 colored points)
Each point represents a search done from a specific spot. The color indicates your position:
| Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | Top 3 — you're in the top 3 Google results (the local pack visible without clicking "More results") |
| Orange | Top 10 — you appear but customers need to scroll |
| Red | Not visible in the top 20 |
How to read it: you can rank well at your listing's address (central green point) but be invisible 2 km around (red points). That's the sign your local SEO is very tightly clustered geographically.
2. The 4 metrics

| Stat | Calculation |
|---|---|
| Visibility rate | % of points where you appear in the Top 20. E.g.: 92% = 23 points out of 25. |
| Top 3 Presence | % of points where you're in the local pack (Top 3). E.g.: 56% = 14 points out of 25. This is the most important metric: that's where the clicks come from. |
| Average position | Your average position across the points where you appear. E.g.: 3.3 (out of 14 visible points). |
| Competitors | Number of distinct businesses that appear in your searches. E.g.: 5 competitors identified. |
3. Top 5 Competitors
Ranked list of the 5 businesses that show up most often in the searches for the analyzed keyword/area (visible below the 4 metrics on the screenshot above). For each one:
- Name + address
- Average rating
- Number of reviews
You appear in the list with an orange "You" badge.
Competitor tip: this is the list to monitor regularly. If a competitor suddenly overtakes you, go check their Google listing: did they post recent photos, add attributes, gain reviews? You'll know what to copy.
4. Market analysis

| Block | Content |
|---|---|
| Industry averages | Average rating: 4.4/5 — Average number of reviews: 411 reviews |
| Market leaders | Competitor with the best rating / Competitor with the most reviews |
5. Recommendations to improve your visibility
4 tips generated based on the analysis:
- Optimize your profile with more photos and a detailed description including the keyword "{{keyword}}"
- The market is very competitive with an average rating of X.X. Encourage your satisfied customers to leave reviews.
- Regularly update your hours and post on Google My Business to improve your engagement
- Add specific attributes to your business to appear in more relevant searches
Recommended method: run an analysis with 2-3 different keywords (your main business, your secondary business, your business + city) once a month. Note the metrics in a personal file. That way you measure the impact of your optimization work over time.
Part 2 — Optimize my Google listing
Once you know WHERE you're weak (visibility analysis), you need to know WHAT to change. That's the role of the "Optimize my Google listing" page.
From the Dashboard → "GBP Optimization" card (lightning icon), or via /dashboard/optimiser.

The AI score (out of 100)
Top left, an orange gauge displays your Score / 100. E.g.: 74 / 100.
The score is computed by our AI analyzing 7 dimensions of your listing:
- Information (name, address, phone, website, description)
- Hours (regular, special, holidays)
- Categories (primary + secondary)
- Attributes (card payments, parking, accessibility, etc.)
- Photos (variety, freshness, quantity)
- Services (menus for restaurants, services for tradespeople)
- Reviews and engagement
Navigation sidebar
On the left, below the score, you navigate between sections:
- AI Recommendations (default view, aggregates the priority suggestions)
- Information
- Hours
- Categories
- Attributes
- Photos
- Services
Suggestion format: CURRENT vs SUGGESTED

For each possible improvement, GMB Club shows:
- CURRENT: what's on your listing today (e.g.: "No service listed")
- SUGGESTED: what the AI proposes (e.g.: "Add: Lunch menu (€14.90), Lunch set (€18.90), Sunday brunch (€25)")
- 3 buttons:
- "Accept" (solid orange) → applies the suggestion directly to your Google listing
- "Modify" → opens the suggestion in edit mode, you adjust before sending
- "X" → rejects the suggestion (it may reappear at the next scan)
Important: changes are published LIVE on your real Google listing. Check each suggestion before accepting. Changes are visible to customers within minutes/hours (depending on Google's propagation speed).
Concrete examples of suggestions
| Type | CURRENT example | SUGGESTED example |
|---|---|---|
| Information / Description | Short description (40 characters) | Optimized description (650 characters) with business keywords |
| Categories | Primary category only | + 2 secondary categories (French restaurant, Pizzeria) |
| Hours | No special hours set | + Hours for public holidays (Christmas, New Year's Day, July 14th...) |
| Photos | 6 photos | Google recommends at least 10 varied photos for restaurants → offers a guided upload |
| Services | No service listed | Detailed menu with prices |
| Attributes | Contradiction cash payment only + card accepted | Pick one to keep them consistent |
Listing preview (right sidebar)
To the right of the suggestion list (visible in the screenshot above), you see a preview of your listing as it appears on Google:
- Cover photo
- Name + primary category (
Food'Alexandre - Lyon Bellecour,Restaurant) - Rating + number of reviews
- 4 Google actions:
Directions,Call,Website,Share - Address, status (
Closed · Opens Saturday at 11:30), phone, website - Description
- Categories (tags)
- Attributes (
Pay Credit Card,Has Wifi,Serves Vegetarian Food)
It's useful to visualize what a potential customer sees.
Recommended method
- Go to the "AI Recommendations" tab (default view) — that's the top 5 high-impact suggestions
- For each suggestion, carefully read CURRENT and SUGGESTED
- If you fully agree → click "Accept" → the change goes to Google
- If you want to adjust → "Modify", change what you need, "Validate"
- Once the AI Recommendations are handled, move to the specific tabs (Information, Hours…) for more granular optimizations
- Re-run a visibility analysis 7-15 days later to measure the effect
Score tip: a 74/100 score is already good. To reach 85+, it's almost always thanks to photos (post more, vary the angles) and secondary categories (3 categories beat 1).
Why this matters: how Google ranks listings
To understand what you're measuring, here are the 3 main factors Google uses to rank your listing in the local pack (Top 3):
| Factor | Weight | Lever |
|---|---|---|
| Proximity | Very high | You can't do anything about it (you are where you are). But a well-optimized listing gains visibility radius: you show up 2 km out instead of 500 m. |
| Relevance | High | What Optimize my Google listing fixes: keyword-rich description, precise categories, attributes checked. |
| Prominence | High | Quantity and quality of Google reviews. That's why Acquisition matters so much. |
GMB Club works on the last two (Relevance + Prominence). The first is physical, nothing you can do.
Common issues
"No Google listing connected for this establishment."
→ Go to Settings › Connections and connect a GMB listing (Doc 1).
"Limit reached" on the Visibility page → You've used your 3 weekly analyses on this bubble. Reset next Monday. You can analyze other bubbles in the meantime.
My Optimizer score is very low (40/100) and I just connected my listing → Normal on a sparsely filled listing. Start with the AI Recommendations (top 5). In a 30-minute session, you can gain 20-30 points.
An "Accept" suggestion failed with an error message → Several possible causes:
- "Google is temporarily unavailable" → try again in a few minutes
- "Google session expired" → reconnect the listing in Settings
- "You don't have permission to edit this listing" → you're using a Google account that isn't owner/manager. Reconnect with the right account.
- "Image too small" → Google requires 250×250 px minimum
I see a competitor with fewer reviews but ranking higher than me → Reviews are one factor among several. If their name contains your keyword ("Marseille Pizza" vs your "Chez Pierre"), they have a Relevance advantage. If their listing is more complete (photos, services, categories), same thing. Check both.
How often should I re-run an analysis? → Once a month is enough to follow the trend. More than that and you're measuring noise.
